Classic Cocktails : Negroni

History:

The Negroni cocktail is believed to have been created in Florence, Italy in the early 20th century. The most widely accepted origin story is that the cocktail was invented in 1919 by Count Camillo Negroni. The story goes that Count Negroni asked a bartender at the Caffe Casoni to strengthen his Americano cocktail by replacing the soda water with gin.

The bartender also added an orange garnish rather the typical lemon twist, creating the Negroni we know today. The cocktail gained popularity in Italy and eventually made its way to the United States and other parts of the world. It has since become a classic cocktail enjoyed by many.

The Negroni cocktail has inspired numerous variations and spin-offs, but the classic recipe remains a favorite among cocktail enthusiasts. Its balance of bitter, sweet, and herbal flavors makes it a versatile and delicious drink for any occasion.
