Located at lighthouse mall, lighthouse road Umhlanga Rocks Durban. As we made our way to have dinner, we took a chance to see if there was a table available as we had not made any reservations. The friendly hostess was welcoming and kind enough to assist us as there was a table available for us. The restaurant was occupied to its fullest and buzzing with happy patrons.
We were seated on the outdoor deck, unfortunately there wasn’t any table available near the bar to take pictures of. We immediately were approached by Sbonga, our waiter for the night who introduced himself and told us about their specials for the evening.
We decided on drinks order, and I chose the pomegranate caipirinha cocktail while my partner she chose the pineapple and mint cocktail. On their food menu I chose the T-bone 600g topped with marrow butter, while she had the rump steak topped marrow butter as well.
Pomegranate Caipirinha Cocktail Pineapple and Mint Cocktail
Our drinks had arrived. The pomegranate caipirinha was served in a whiskey glass garnished with a lime wheel, which is expected from the classic caipirinha cocktail. I could taste the rum in the cocktail, the pomegranate syrup was a bit sweet. I wished they had added more fresh lime wedges to muddle that would have balanced the sweet and sour of the cocktail.
The pineapple and mint cocktail had a nice fruity and refreshing taste to it, the pairing of the ingredients really complimented each other my partner really enjoyed. Garnish and presentation of both these cocktails were exceptional.
600g T-Bone Steak topped with marrow butter flamed
The T-Bone was out of this world, a matured T-Bone with the marrow butter flamed and melted the best I’ve ever had. The was rump steak also topped with marrow butter and flamed, really tasted great leaving my partner extremely happy. A really exceptional place to dine at with a great ambience.
Service was great from Sbonga and management were present on the floor to assist when needed. Overall, I rate Butcher Boys Prime Steakhouse 9 out of 10, and definitely I will be returning.
